The Firing of Don Imus
Apr 18, 2007
The radio talk show host, Don Imus, was fired recently for racist comments which were not at all unusual for him. But I have noticed over the years that corporate firings are seldom done for the public reasons given, unless an employee is simply lazy or utterly incompetent.
The Russian newspaper, Pravda, has an interesting view of his firing. They link his firing to a statement he made to Tim Russert earlier that he might reveal some government secrets about 9-11. They suggest that this was the real purpose of his firing. Whether or not this is true, it does give us a glimpse of how other nations view us.
